The Thirsty Crow

One hot day, a thirsty crow flew over dry fields looking for water. He flew and flew until his wings felt heavy. Just when he almost lost hope, he spotted a jug under a tree.

He swooped down. Yes! There was water inside—but only a little, far too low for his beak to reach.

He tried to push his head in. The neck of the jug was too narrow. He tried to tip the jug. It was too heavy.

The crow paused and thought hard. Then he saw pebbles on the ground. “I have an idea!” he cawed.

One by one, he dropped pebbles into the jug. Plop. Plop. Plop. The water rose higher and higher. At last it reached the top!

The clever crow drank deeply and felt strong again. His smart plan had worked.
